We were just talking about this in another thread, but I found this picture and it needed to be shared. Proof that the Monaro could've been much better spent than as a GTO.

I dont understand what you are saying. How do you spend a Monaro?

GM doomed it when they saddled it with a name as big as the GTO when it was obviously destined to be a Camaro all along.

Oh got ya.
They should've made something worthy of the GTO name. But I doubt even that would've saved Pontiac.

I think they should have reverted back to classic names and used their Australian and European offerings to fill out the line with models not in the Chevy line. Basically like they're doing with Opel and Buick now.
Commodore - Bonneville
Monaro - T/A
Insignia - Grand Prix
Astra - Grand Am

If there was a little more love for it we could have had something like this put into production.

I've actually talked about that car at great length. That's basically the coupe concept for the generation that was the G8 right?
I always thought it woulda been the perfect car to bring back the Monte Carlo name on.

You'll never hear me say this, but I must say it here...
The bigger - arguably more "bloated" - GTO is nicer than that Camaro.
I think these new GTOs were pretty cool. Sleeper status but still a bit aggressive. The Vauxhall-branded Monaro did have a nicer body than the GTO though, only disappointing part.

Yeah the Coupe 60 concept by Holden based on the VE Commodore. Pretty much showed that Holden could make a Camaro before they started actually making the Camaro.

I agree. I've been in both, and I definitely like the GTO more. Just light years ahead in refinement.

That has too much bulk to be a good Camaro. Hell, even the current production model still has too much bulk.

Same platform, both built on Zeta. I like the angle on this compared to the Camaro, has the same aggressive slant as the VE/G8.

It was to big to be a camaro. The GTO is a cruiser and the Camaro is a pony car.

Sorry to hijack, but how does one post on OPPO? All my posts are just on my 'private blog'

There should be a drop down below where you enter the text that lets you choose Oppo or your personal blog.
